C Wojahn
02:04:16
if we have our aa degree when do we contact advisors to figure out schedule shifts?
Acad - Michael Hoffman
02:04:34
Sebastian- Job offers prior to graduation are not uncommon. I graduated in ’08 with multiple offers and committed to Maersk a month before graduation.
Sebastian C.
02:05:45
That's insane! I didn't know how strong the demand was.
Acad - Scott Green
02:06:40
Yup. You’d be amazed. You’ll never be unemployed
Acad - Annie Chan
02:06:41
Sebastian - The demand is ALWAYS strong for CMA grads, you can ask anyone in industry :)
Acad- Angel Bermudez
02:06:59
To Sebastian: Yeah it is. It teaches you if you really want it or not. If this is truly what a person wants, you’ll be submerged in what you love to do.
Acad - Dinesh Pinisetty
02:07:15
Sebastian we have never seen our graduating cadets struggling to find a job. Even during bad recessions our cadets were finding jobs.
Acad - Dean F. Neto
02:09:36
Follow up on the question regarding Fall semester -- Cal Maritime takes the safety of all cadets very seriously, as well as providing the conditions for the cadets to make progress toward a timely graduation. We plan on cadets be living on campus in Fall, and all classes being offered normally, in our classrooms and labs. However, if conditions change, the safety of our community is paramount, and we follow national, state and regional guidelines and orders. In such situation, the academy will be ready to implement alternative instructional approaches to ensure the cadets continuing education.

02:15:01
to Adrian : when you decided that you did not want to sail did you have to change your classes to switch to fet or were you already enrolled as fet ?
Acad - Adrian Nguyen
02:15:38
I had already enrolled as FET, but cruise reinforced my decision.
Acad - Scott Green
02:16:58
To Adrian: Most all of the classes for both majors are the same for the first two yers, so it’s relatively easy to switch. It’s harder later than that, but the curricula are very similar except for some focus classes
Acad - Annie Chan
02:17:05
Isaac - Your first year or two the program is about the same for FET and MET - it kind of allows for an easier transition. In fact, most of the program is the same with the exception of a few courses and you have a different summer experience
Acad - Annie Chan
02:17:15
Dang Scott Green you beat me!
Acad - Scott Green
02:17:45
Sorry 😐
Acad- Angel Bermudez

Acad - Adrian Nguyen
02:24:59
@Annie for sure! Thanks for offering
Acad - Adrian Nguyen
02:26:05
@Isaac I was in your situation. I passed AP Calc AB, but I didn’t take the AP test. I started with Calc 1 my freshmen year.

Matthew Roberts
02:26:18

Acad - Cullan Whelan
02:27:08
Ivan you need a passport and twic
Acad - Ryan Storz
02:27:13
@Matthew, you get a USCG 3rd Assistant Engineer's License and will be on the track, with appropriate sea time and experience, to get your Chief Engineering License.
Acad - Annie Chan
02:27:13
Ivan - You will obtain an MMC post graduation. The TWIC comes just before/after cruise, and you will need a passport
Acad - Scott Green
02:27:45

Isaac
02:28:17
if we do not pass the swimming test , will the PE class interfere with our other classes ?
Acad - Ryan Storz
02:28:21
@Matthew, If you were a Marine Transportation major, you'd graduate with your USCG 3rd Mate license, on the track with appropriate experience and seatime, for your Captain's license.
Matthew Roberts
02:28:28
@Ryan Storz, Thank you!
Acad - Ryan Storz
02:28:29

Acad - Ryan Storz
02:31:13
Tyler, during O-week and after. But you send your measurements in earlier.
Acad - Michael Hoffman
02:31:39
Ivan: per your question regarding a captain license, you cannot achieve the rank of Master (captain) with the MET program. You will receive a 3rd assistant engineering (unlimited HP) license for steam, Motor, and Gas Turnine vessels. Your career progression goes from 3rd to 2nd to 1st assistant engineer and the top of your tier is Chief Engineer
Acad- Angel Bermudez
02:32:27
Ivan: Yes you do, it isn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be
Isaac
02:32:59

Acad - David Drongpa
02:34:05
you can find all these information on the cma website issac
Acad - Annie Chan
02:34:05
I believe you are only allowed to wear nude colored polish, nothing that stands out. Not sure on length though
Acad - Scott Green
02:34:09
All ET faculty know the names of every single ET and ME student. That is a key part of how well we can all meld into a fantastic learning environment
Acad- Angel Bermudez
02:34:21
Isaac: the grooming standards say no false nails and only nude colors
Sebastian C.
02:35:27
